Mr. Hartout and his team at Scoc Auto Mulhouse  

The business owner plans to hire an additional person to offer new services to people who want to register a car, whether bought in France or abroad.  

With six employees and new premises facing the Cité de l’auto, the Mulhouse-based company Scoc Auto has become a real 'garage' specializing in automotive administrative documents.

Meeting with Mr. Hartout, his manager.

Mr. Hartout, before creating SCOC AUTO, did you have a long history in the car business?

Yes, I was born in Mulhouse and I have a vocational high school diploma in mechanics. Then I worked at Speedy in Bourtzwiller, Colmar, Morschwiller, before joining the PSA factory in 1999. Later, I took advantage of a departure plan to create, in 2017, an online business specializing in European conformity certificates.

It's the website www.euro-conformité.com, which is also available in several sites dedicated to specific car brands.

Why do you need a certificate of conformity to register a car?

The certificate of conformity is a mandatory document for registering a vehicle from an EU country in France. To give you an idea, we issued 12,000 European certificates of conformity, or CoCs, in 2018 through our websites. Thanks to our services and special connections with brands, we can also get certificates of conformity for cars imported from the United States. Our strong point is that we've approached a lot of manufacturers.

With SCOC AUTO, are you offering to take care of everything?

Yes, we put together a service package that includes bringing the car back from an EU country, the certificate of conformity, and the final registration document. We're just starting with importing cars sold in other European countries, but that's only a tiny part of what we do.

How much does the service cost?

The price of the certificate of conformity varies depending on the manufacturer, but this service costs between €150 and €200.
